Privacy Policy

PoultryCalc (poultrycalc.com) is a static calculator website. This policy explains what information is processed when you use it, and your choices.

What we collect

Nothing you type into a calculator leaves your browser. All calculations run locally on your device; we have no accounts, no forms, and no database.

Like virtually every website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes technical request data — IP address, browser type, pages requested — to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We see this only as aggregate statistics (page views, countries), not as profiles of individual visitors. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details on their processing.

Analytics

If you are in the UK, the EU/EEA or Switzerland, we ask first. You'll see a cookie banner, and neither analytics tool below loads or sets any cookie unless you say yes. Reject it, or simply ignore it, and nothing analytics-related ever runs.

Elsewhere, analytics load by default and you will not see a banner, because those countries do not require us to ask. Either way you are in charge: the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page lets you turn them off (or on) whenever you like, wherever you are. The whole site works identically with them or without them.

When they do run, we use two tools, and neither one is used to identify you.

Microsoft Clarity shows us how people use the calculators — which parts of a page get read, where people scroll, and where a tool confuses them. Clarity does more than count visits: it captures interaction data such as mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and page navigation, and reconstructs anonymised session replays and heatmaps from it. We use that to fix things that don't work.

Clarity does not capture what you type into a calculator — those values stay in your browser as described above — and Microsoft masks text input by default. Clarity sets its own cookies (for example _clck and_clsk) to tell one session from another. Microsoft is the data processor for this information; see the Microsoft Privacy Statement for how they handle it. Blocking cookies, or any tracker blocker, stops Clarity entirely and the site works exactly the same without it.

Google Analytics 4 counts the plainer things: how many people visited, which pages, from which country, on what kind of device, and which search terms brought them here (that last part comes from linking it to Google Search Console). It is what tells us which calculators are worth writing more of. It sets cookies of its own — typically _ga and _ga_<id> — to tell a returning visitor from a new one. We do not enable Google Signals, advertising features, or any cross-site ad personalisation in our Analytics settings, and we never send it anything you type into a calculator. Google is the data processor for this information; see the Google Privacy Policy and Google's note on how it uses data from sites that use its services. Besides the banner, Google offers a browser opt-out add-on that blocks Analytics on every site you visit.

Advertising

To keep the site free, pages may display advertising served by Google AdSense. When ads are shown, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, and learn how Google uses data from partner sitesat policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

The AdSense code is installed, but no ads are being shown yet — the account is still under review, so the script loads and returns nothing. When ads do begin, visitors in the UK, EU/EEA and Switzerland will be asked about advertising by a Google-certified consent tool rather than by the banner described above — Google requires a certified consent platform for ad serving in those countries and does not accept a site's own banner in its place. That tool records your choice and passes it to Google and its advertising partners, and you can reopen it whenever you like from Cookie settings. To avoid asking you twice, our own banner steps aside in those countries once that tool is live, and your answer there governs analytics too. Outside those countries no advertising prompt is shown.

Cookies

PoultryCalc has no login and no cookies of its own. In the UK, EU/EEA and Switzerland this site sets no cookies at all until you accept the banner. Elsewhere, analytics cookies are set unless you turn them off. Your answer either way is remembered in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, as is the country result used to decide whether to show the banner. Once advertising begins, the Google-certified consent tool described above will store your advertising choice as well, in the manner that framework requires.

When analytics are running, the cookies you will find here are set by the services above: Microsoft Clarity, to distinguish one analytics session from another; Google Analytics, to tell a returning visitor from a new one; and advertising and affiliate partners when their content or links are used. You can change your answer at any time with Cookie settings, or block and delete cookies in your browser settings. Withdrawing consent stops both analytics tools from loading on your next page view; it cannot un-load a script already running on this one. Every calculator works fine without any of it.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 and knowingly collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
